1. Carter Bank & Trust Marker
Inscription. On December 13, 1974, Worth Harris Carter, Jr. opened the first Carter Bank & Trust at this location. Operating under the name of First National Bank of Rocky Mount, the branch opened with eight employees. From these humble beginnings, Carter Bank & Trust has grown to a full-service bank and a community partner serving both Virginia and North Carolina.
