Marian Chapel
This Marian chapel is an exact copy of the wooden chapel dating from 1950, which at the time stood to the left of the Geul bridge, on Pelerinstraat.
Later, around 1975, the chapel was moved to the Bogaardlaan, where it stood until 2010; during the reconstruction of the Geul quay walls in 2010, the chapel and pedestal were removed.
The chapel was popularly called "t Kepelke bie de brφg" (little chapel by the bridge).
At the initiative of the Veldkruus Foundation, with the cooperation of various volunteers and sponsors, the chapel was rebuilt here, close to the place where it was blessed in the Marian year of 1950 by pastor Ad Welters, of blessed memory.
On the occasion of the feast day of the Annunciation, the chapel was blessed again in March 2014 by pastor H. Jansen, Montfortaan.
The chapel is owned by the parish of Sts. Nicolaas and Barbara.
