World War I

The "Doughboy" was the first American soldier to engage an enemy in a world war to make the world safe for democracy. The United States allied with Great Britain and France and fought in the trenches against Germany and the other Central Powers.

World War II

Following the infamous sneak artack on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese on Decenilber 7, 1941, the United States joined the Allies in their fight to preserve world freedom from tyranny The American G.I. fought against the Axis powers of Germany, Japan, and Italy.

Casualties: 405,400 • Wounded: 1,000,000

Korean War

This war was fought to assist the South Korean government in its struggle agamse the North Korean Communist aggressors After China invaded, fighting stopped at the 38th Parallel dividing North and South Korea. Many refer to this as the "Forgotten War".

Casualties: 38,000 • Wounded: 100,000

began its longest war against the communist aggression of North Vietnam. U.S. "Grunts" and other Armed Forces were superior in battle, but it was a war of attrition and containment. Support at home lessened; Congress eliminated funds, and in 1975 the last troops were brought home.
