Tyrone in Blair County, Pennsylvania — The American Northeast (Mid-Atlantic)
9th Street Pedestrian Bridge
This bridge was originally built in the early 1900's and was wide enough for horse drawn carts and eventually small, motorized vehicles. When built, the west side was at ground level. The steps were added much later. In 1936, when a large portion of Tyrone was under water, the bridge was destroyed. The present bridge was built and opened in 1937 strictly as a pedestrian bridge so people could easily get to the train station and to the Wilson Chemical Company.
