Victorian Splendor
Thomaston has very few truly Victorian houses. Several older homes, however, were modified when Victorian architectural styles became popular. Windows were changed to the narrower variety and people built bay windows into their house's front façade, Victorian porches and other popular details were added to some Federal style homes. Built in 1890 by Captain Edward Smalley, this house is a pure Queen Anne Victorian complete with a corner tower. Unfortunately, Captain Smalley and his family had too few years to enjoy the lovely house. The captain died in 1906 and his wife, Elise, lived only three years longer.
