Dieser Flugzeugtyp wurde bereits Anfang der 1950er Jahre entwickelt und als modernes Reiseflugzeug konzipiert. Für den militärischen Bereich wurde es als Transport-, Rettungs-, Sanitäts- und Verbindungsflugzeug genutzt. Der zweimotorige freitragende Schulterdecker hat zwei luftgekühlte Alvis-Leonides MK 12701 9-Zyl.-Sternmotoren.
