Hometown Hero
Born in Halifax, Harry Foster was a Major General with the Canadian Army. He led with distinction, landing troops at Juno Beach on D-Day in 1944 and liberating the Belgian city of Bruges later that year. After the war, Foster participated in the court martial of German general Kurt Meyer for war crimes against Canadian soldiers, including Charles Doucette (see adjacent panel).
