Wormsley. , 2017 , Viewfinders, steel, automotive paint, digital prints, For We Came from the Stars, artist Alisha Wormsley collaborated with children from ACH Clear Pathways to create drawings and collages that explored themes of time and place. This provided a starting point for the artwork, which creates a series of views into the past, present, and future of the Hill District., By looking into the viewers, you can experience different aspects of the neighborhood, including historic images of the Hill District community at play. The project recognizes the past, present, and future happening simultaneously., About the Artist, Alisha B. Wormsley is an interdisciplinary artist and cultural producer. She uses photography, video, sculpture, and sound to deconstruct accepted realities to create new conceptual mythologies. By layering methods of science fiction, collage theory, and folklore, she reconstructs stories, examining themes of gender, class, race, and time. Her projects and works have been exhibited widely nationally and internationally., The artwork was commissioned by the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh, with assistance by the Office of Public Art.
