Putnamville in Putnam County, Indiana — The American Midwest (Great Lakes)
Putnamville School
The last school was erected in 1908-1937 at this site by A.L. Evens and included 4 classrooms and a basement with cafeteria. Children walked to school or were transported in a 'hack' pulled by horses that would ford the streams. Horses would rest in a barn east of the church.
Two of three classes were in a room: three years of high school were taught at Putnamville and then seniors chose to transfer to Cloverdale Greencastle, or Reelsville, It remained as a school until 1969 and later as the south Putnam superintendant's office until being torn down.
