Inscription.
The parish was organized in 1744, by Samuel Johnson, father of Episcopacy in Connecticut and first president of King's College (later Columbia University). The first structure (1750) was located inside the Green, surrounded by poplars. (Later the Green was cleared of buildings and gravestones to be a park.) The current masonry building (1838), with Gothic detail and tall tower, is notable among Connecticut Episcopal churches.

Erected by Guilford Preservation Alliance & Guilford Keeping Society.
