Regarding Chamberlain-Bordeau House. Excerpts from the National Register nomination:
The Chamberlain-Bourdeau House is significant for its association with the town's mid-l9th century real estate development and its stylish Italianate design.
The present T-plan house, the property of Capt. John Chamberlain or Chamberlin, first appeared on the 1870 Worcester County Atlas. Chamberlain was listed in the 1875-6 Southbridge directory as an insurance agent. After Capt. Chamberlain's death in the late 1870's, Mrs. Chamberlain continued to live in the house until the late 1880's, By 1898, the house had become the property of Gilbert Bourdeau, a box maker. Bourdeau lived here until about 1920.
