1. The Abbey Marker

Inscription. Built in the 1840's adjacent to the Mills Hotel (Sparta House), the Abbey was first used as an inn. For a brief time, The True Teller, a Sparta newspaper was published in this building. R.J. Stratton operated a furniture and coffin business from here. Subsequently, the Moedingers took over the business and lived here as well. Amelia Moedinger, a local teacher, resided here till her death. Later, this building was moved westward to its current location.
Peter Robson purchased the building in 1983; he renovated it and uses it as a family home and his studio.
