1. The Pew House Marker

Inscription. The Pew House is associated with a village blacksmithing precinct that operated from the third quarter of the nineteenth century to the first years of the twentieth century and extended over roughly an acre from this location to today's Bridge Street East. The current house was build on an earlier structure around 1871 when Isaac Pew moved his family and business here and established a vibrant blacksmithing business that continued until his death in 1903. The house remained in the family until 1912 and was routinely used as a venue for musical recitals.
