Smokin Hot Antiques at the Old Firehouse
38 N Main
Originally built as Barlow Garage, members of the Davies family, owners of the business, also lived here. By the 1930s S.W. Barton was operating his Texaco Panguitch Garage from this location. Sam Allen then opened his Ford dealership here in 1948 before moving to a new building around 500 North Main Street. Returning to a garage, Carvel Henrie and Jay Crosby repaired vehicles and sold farm equipment at the Bryce Motor Company. They later transitioned the space to a welding shop. From 1984 to 1998 Panguitch City housed their fire trucks in the building until a new fire station was built on 100 East Street. Smokin Hot Antiques replaced another antiques and collectibles store and opened in 2012.
Pink Polka Dott
18 N Main
The Pink Polka Dott building has been apartments and housed numerous Main Street business owners over the years. To the right stood a variety store which then became Davis Meat Locker Storage, a meat counter, aging room and freezer. Nello Ipson tore down the meat lockers to make room for a parking lot for this UTOCO station.
In 1914 a two-story brick building stood on the northeast corner of Center and Main Street; the upper level was a dentists office and main floor was The State Bank of Garfield County which closed in1923 and became the Panguitch State Bank until the early 1930s. The closing of these banks during the Great Depression devastated the once-thriving sheep ad cattle industry in Panguitch. The Utah Oi Refinery Co., a gas station, later stood on the corner and was remodeled to the UTOCO Service Station. Henry Thomas purchased the building in 1985 and opened the successful Thomas Auto Repair and Service.
