Inscription. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, the Historic Russell School is the last remaining Rosenwald School in Durham County. The school served as a refuge for Black children to have a formalized education from 1926 to 1945. It is owned by Cain's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
