The city of Sevran was invaded by the Germans on June 13, 1940. At that time, the laboratories of Alfred Nobel and the Westinghouse and Kodak factories employed skilled workers there. Among them, many Sevranais distinguished themselves in the resistance, notably Louis Blésy, Guy Cam, Georges Denancé, Lucien Gelot, Jean Hemmen, Gaston Levy, Maurice Métais...

The French Resistance in Sevran was organized during the Second World War. Following the German invasion, French people opposed to Pétain joined the resistance. The town of Sevran was taken over by the Germans on June 13, 1940. Sevran, which had 10,147 inhabitants in 1936, experienced industrial development from the end of the 19th century and especially at the beginning of the 20th century.
