A young communist activist of Polish origin, Raymonde Royal actively participated in the reconstitution of the Young Communists in the underground and organized in her sector of the 10th arrondissement the distribution of leaflets and the Party press before being arrested and deported to Auschwitz in 1942.(Submitted on November 12, 2024.)
Raymonde Royal was arrested with her mother on May 11, 1942. After a six-month period of prison and interrogation, she was transferred to the fort of Romainville where she found many interned communist activists. After a brief stay in Drancy, Raymonde Royal and her mother were deported as Jews to Auschwitz, from where they would not return.
