1. Fivay Community Marker

Inscription. Fivay sawmill and town were established in 1904 by five men whose last names began with an "A" - Abbott, Amorous, Arkwright, Atkinson and Ayer. With 27 qualified voters the Town of Fivay, located three and one-half miles southeast of Hudson near Bear Sink, was incorporated September 30, 1908. A narrow gauge railroad ran through Fivay on its way from Hudson to the main line at Fivay Junction. Three hotels, a bank, clubhouse, commissary and post office served the town. Two electric plants supplied power for the businesses, homes and mill. The Aripeka Saw Mills Corporation at one time employed over 2,000 workers. making it the largest in Florida. It operated until 1912 when the supply of timber ran out. Griffin Park and Osceola Heights subdivisions are located in the area that was once Fivay.

Erected 1995 by The Pasco Board of County Commissioners and the Pasco County Historical Preservation Committee.
