Inscription.
This monument is erected
by the citizens of Schuylkill County
and bequeathed to their children.
A Record of Gratitude,
for his illustrious services which brought
peace, prosperity and glory to his country.
A Tribute of Admiration,
for the virtues which adorned a useful life,
and won for his imperishable name the
respect and affection of mankind.

Corner stone laid July 26th, 1852
