1. McWilliams Bridge Marker
Inscription.

This steel bridge spanning the Schuylkill River was constructed in 1872, connecting the Irish Flat with Dock Street. When this circa 1910 photograph was taken, the Schuylkill Canal, which passed under the bridge, was no longer in existence. It was replaced in 1930 with the concrete structure you see today. The bridge was known both as the Broadway Bridge and McWilliams Bridge, probably in deference to the family named grocery store near its Dock Street entry.
