Inscription. Founded in 1926, Pittsfield Weaving Co. began operations in a building on this site. The structure, erected c1901 and used as a wheelwright-horse shoeing shop, was moved here from Depot Street. Surviving the Great Depression, the fledgling company expanded during the 1940s. It dramatically increased in size during the 1970s when it became involved in the development of a new patented label machine. The building was razed in 1982 after being replaced by a new structure across the street.
