Propagation
Bald eagles lay 1-3 white eggs in large nests, that usually are located in tall trees. These nests are used year after year and increase in size as sticks are added. These impressive structures can grow to be 8 feet across and 10-12 ft. deep.
Populations
In the past, the bald eagle population was declining rapidly because of hunting, pesticides and the encroachment of civilization. Due to the reduction of pesticides, captive breeding and release, and strict laws, these noble birds have made a dramatic comeback in the past 20 years and have been down listed from the endangered species list. Bald eagles can be seen in Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge, Crane Creek State Park and other areas in Northwestern Ohio.
