1. Elijah Mayhew House Marker

Inscription. This Federal-style house was built c.1860 by Elijah Mayhew, a pioneer of 1853. He held many church and civic positions: Pleasant Grove Ward Clerk; 29 years; postmaster and city recorder, each 15 years; and justice of the peace. For 29 years he was superintendent and secretary of the town's co-operative mercantile. One of his plural wives, Sarah, operated a boarding house here. The house was restored in 1996 by Scott Hancock.
