Lutheran Church
Inscription.
Lutheran Church
On the site of the former town hall on the Voorhaven, the Lutheran Church was built in 1739-1741. The hall church, built between the adjacent houses, has a stately Louis XIV-style facade, with 3 large arched windows, divided by natural stone corner pilasters and crowned by a sculpted attic of natural stone with an image of the Lutheran swan in the middle. Above the entrance flanked by Ionic pilasters is an inscription with the year 1740. The interior is sober: the floor consists of sandstone tiles. The organ was made in 1809 by Gideon Thomas Bδtz from Utrecht. During the period 1983-1991, the church was extensively restored by Vereniging Oud-Edam.
Erected by Vereniging Oud Edam, VVV, ANWB.
