1. Newport Avenue Marker

Inscription. This distinctive and highly intact ensemble of buildings exemplifies the high-quality working-class residential architecture constructed in Chicago's neighborhoods during the late 19th and early 20th centuries as the city expanded outward into once-suburban areas like the town of Lake View, which was annexed by Chicago in 1889.

2. Newport Avenue Marker

district. The east side of the marker has graffiti on the bottom. A duplicate of this marker can be found on the east end of the street, near Halsted.

Regarding Newport Avenue. Newport Avenue between Sheffield Avenue and Halsted Street was designated a Chicago Landmark in February 2005.
