Billy spent 31 seasons in a Cubs uniform as a player and coach, a club record.

Soft-spoken clutch performer was one of most respected hitters of his day. Batted solid .290 over 18 seasons socking 426 home runs. Hit 20 or more homers 13 straight seasons. 1961 N.L. Rookie of Year. 1972 N.L. batting champion with .333. Held N.L. record for consecutive games played with 1,117.

Billy Williams was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, July 26, 1987. Billy's uniform number, 26, was retired by the Cubs August 13, 1987.

2. Billy Williams statue (left side)
The Billy Williams statue was unveiled in 2010 at the southeast corner of Wrigley Field, at Sheffield and Addison, replacing a statue of announcer Harry Caray that was relocated to Sheffield and Waveland, in front of the entrance into the stadium's bleacher section. It was moved to its current location in Gallagher Way in 2022.
 
Regarding "Sweet-Swinging" Billy Williams. Billy Williams was the second Cub to have his number retired by the club; his #26 was retired in 1987, the year he was inducted into the Hall of Fame. The six-time All-Star holds most of the Cubs' records for left-handed hitters; he was also the 1970 runner-up for the National League's Most Valuable Player.
