2005

Beechview was founded as a borough in 1905, three years after the opening of the nearby trolley line led to a substantial increase in residential and commercial development. It became part of the City of Pittsburgh just four years later, in 1909. The community's centennial was commemorated with the burying of this time capsule, as well as the planting of the nearby beech tree, the namesake of the neighborhood.
