Het voormalig Belastingkantoor is gebouwd in de sobere stijl van de Delftse School. De prominente locatie in combinatie met de streng-symmetrische gevel, de classicistische elementen en de wapenschilden boven de entrees onderstreepte het gezag van de overheid. Overheidsgebouwen van na de Tweede Wereldoorlog wilden het optimisme van de wederopbouw uitstralen. Sinds 2009 staat het Belastinggebouw op de rijksmonumentenlijst.

The former Belastingkantoor (central tax office) was built in the sober style of the Delft School of architecture. The prominent location, in combination with the strictly symmetrical faηade, the classicist elements and the coats of arms above the entrances underlined the government's authority. Post-World War government buildings were intended to reflect post-war optimism. The Belastingkantoor has been a listed building since 2009.
