Inscription.
The Congregational Church is the oldest church organization in Morristown, dating back to 1807. The building is the most architecturally significant church in Morrisville today. The original construction, a wood frame structure based on the axial plan, was built in 1839. The church building was altered to improve and enlarge it in 1858, 1873, and 1896. The pipe organ was added in 1885.
The current faηade, in the Gothic Revival style, dates from the 1896 renovation. The intricate steeple, with its four spires and bell tower, dominates the left side of the front faηade. To the side and right of the steeple are identical structures that are decorated with scalloped gingerbread ornament and topped with gable roofs. Below the gable roofs are intricate stained-glass windows.
