Brown Residence
Thomas Patrick Brown (1888-1958). Trombohist, saxophonist, composer, and bandlender lived here at 3027 Magazine St. from 1942-1946. He played in Jack Laine's Bands, then in 1915, he and other Laine alumni went to Chicago as Tom Brown's Band from Dixieland. He later played and/or recorded with, Ray Miller's Black and White Melody Boys, The Yerkes Orchs, The Benson Orch, Johnny Bayersdorffer's Orch, Brownlee's Orch, and played briefly with The Six Brown Brothers. He played a lazy laid-back "slush-pump" style on the trombone and was in demand during the revivals in New Orleans in the 40's and 50's, Brown also operated a radio and phonograph shop and appeared on the Gennett, Victor, Columbia, Vocalion, Okeh, Commodore, Southland, and GHB labels.
