Erected in 1892 for Theodore Kohl, an inspector for the Lafayette Fire Insurance Company.
Purchased in 1957 and renovated by the noted architectural historian author, teacher, and preservation architect

Ellen Elizabeth Latrobe Wilson (1919-1991),
great-great-granddaughter of Benjamin Henry Boneval Latrobe, architect of the United States Capitol.
Samuel Wilson, Jr. has been called the father of historic preservation in New Orleans he was the founding president in 1950 of the Louisiana Landmarks Society. His firm designed The Board of Trade Plaza and restored numerous historic structures such as the Cabildo, Gallier House, The Historic Orleans Collection, Pitot House, and St. Patrick's Church.
