1. First Federal Savings Bank Marker
Inscription. First Federal Savings Bank of Lincolnton had its beginnings on February 6, 1940 when a group of local businessmen, led by C.P.A. Chauncey Depew Stroup, held a meeting to form an local savings and loan association to serve the county. The Federal Charter was adopted in 1947 and the name was changed to first Federal Savings and Loan Association of Lincolnton. After returning from service in the Armed forces, C.D. Stroup, Jr. was employed in 1945.

In November 1959 the association moved into its present location, the most modern and convenient fac1lity in Lincoln County at that time. The years 1960 through 1973 brought steady and continuous growth. In addition to increasing assets and net worth, the institution attracted a staff.of competent and capable people, many of whom are still employed at this time. C.D. Stroup, III, was hired in 1970.

The 1980's brought with it rapidly rising interest rates, and while most institutions could not withstand the increased cost of deposits while collecting low interest rates of fixed rate mortgages First Federal's conservative management was able to withstand the challenge and continued

The name was changed to First Federal Savings Bank in January of 2000 to reflect the full range of bank services now offered. The bank opened its first branch in 2002 at 2763 East Highway 27. Another branch was opened at 2074 North Highway 16 in eastern Lincoln County in August of 2004.
