Inscription.
In 1909, this residence was leased by the Administrators of the Tulane Educational Fund to house the newly established School of Music of the H. Sophie Newcomb Memorial College, the college for women within Tulane University. The home, along with 1240 Seventh Street, served as home to the music program until 1918 when the College moved to its home on Broadway Avenue.
