1. Seuss in Springfield Marker

Inscription.
Theodor Seuss Geisel (1904-1991) was born is Springfield, Massachusetts, and true up in the city's Forest Park neighborhood. Geisel attended and graduated for Central High School, where he developed his skill as an illustrator while serving on the school's newspaper staff. The high school buildings stands a short distance fro this site, and Geisel's first book, And To Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street, is set on a street located just a few blocks further east.

The Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden
opened in 2002, through the generosity of Theodor Seuss Geisel's widow, Audrey who authorized the National Memorial's creation and provided major support.
Sculptor Lark Grey Dimond-Cates, who is also Geisel's step-daughter, was commissioned to create the endearing bronze sculptures of Dr. Suess surrounded by his most beloved characters.

In 2017, the Springfield Museum opened a bi-lingual museum to further celebrate the life and legacy of Theodor Seuss Geisel in the city that provided him with so much inspiration. The Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum features interactive literacy-based experiences
