Riley Residence
Teddy Riley (1924-1992), trumpet player and bandleader, lived here at 914 Valence Street from 1962 to 1992. He played with Joe Avery's Band, Jeanette Kimball, The Music Masters, Don Raymond, The Herbert Leary Orch., The Dooky Chase Orch., Sidney Desvigne, Roy Brown and The Mighty Mighty Men, Earl Bostic, Fats Domino, Louis Cottrell, and The Kid Johnson Orch. He also played with Henry Allen's Brass Band, Harold Dejan's Olympia Brass Band, George Williams' Brass Band and his own Royal Brass Band. He was chosen to play taps on Louis Armstrong's "Waif's Home" cornet at the Louis Armstrong memorial service in New Orleans in 1971.
