World War II Sherman Tank.
On September 2 and 3, 1944, the city of Mons was liberated by the troops of the U.S. Army's 1st Infantry Division and 3rd Armored Division. For the people of Mons who lived through these events, this Sherman tank remains the most representative symbol of the liberation. It is in that spirit that it is presented to you as a collector's item of the Mons Memorial Museum.
The M4A1 (76) W Sherman "IN THE MOOD" replicates the third of three tanks named after the Glenn Miller melody In The Mood assigned to the United States Army 32nd Armored Regiment, 3rd Armored division and commanded by Staff Sergeant Lafayette G. Pool. In September 1944, this tank and crew participated in the liberation of the area around Mons, tank battles around Namur and the capture of Liège.
Its properties: Length 19.1 feet; Width 8.58 feet; Height 9 feet; Weight 31.5 tons.

Pool. En septembre 1944, ce char et son équipage participerent à lalibération de la région de Mons, aux combats de blindés près de Namur et à la capture de Liège.
