Maximilien Titon, directeur des manufactures royales d'armes, fit édifier en 1673 une somptueuse maison de campagne, la Folie Titon, au 31, rue de Montreuil. En 1765, Jean-Baptiste Réveillon racheta une partie du domaine pour y installer la manufacture royale de papiers peints. Il collabora avec les frères Etienne et Joseph Montgolfier à la fabrication des premiers ballons aérostatiques. Le 19 octobre 1783, l'ascension en vol captif d'une montgolfière où avaient pris place le physicien Pilâtre de Rozier et Giroud de Villette, adjoint de Réveillon, eut lieu dans les jardins de la propriété. Du 26 au 28 avril 1789 "l'émeute Réveillon", préliminaire à la Révolution, se termina par le pillage et l'incendie de la maison de l'industriel. La Folie Titon fut démolie en 1880.

(English translation:)

Maximilien Titon, director of the royal arms factories, had a sumptuous country house built in 1673, the Folie Titon, at 31, rue de Montreuil. In 1765, Jean-Baptiste Réveillon bought part of the estate to set up the royal wallpaper factory there. He collaborated with the brothers Etienne and Joseph Montgolfier in the manufacture of the first aerostatic balloons. On October 19, 1783, the flight of a tethered hot air balloon in which the physicist Pilâtre de Rozier and Giroud de Villette, Réveillon's assistant, were seated, took place in the gardens of the property. From April 26 to 28, 1789, the "Réveillon riot", a precursor to the Revolution, ended with the looting and burning of the industrialist's house. The Folie Titon was demolished in 1880.
