1. The Conservatory Marker

Inscription. Constructed in 1903 for the Dodge Dry Goods Co. by the George A. Fuller Co. of New York, this Beaux Arts building has been home to a variety of retailers including The Church Company, The Edwards Store, The Carl Company, The Gay Company, and finally the Stanley Department Store from 1925 until 1989.

Jeffrey and Deane Pfeil restored the building in 2006-7 and created elegant apartments on the upper floors and a basement parking garage. They re-named it “The Conservatory” after the Troy Conservatory of Music, a fifth floor tenant for many decades.
