1. Chace-Cory House Marker
Inscription.
Over this stone fence you will see
Chace-Cory House, circa seventeen thirty,
Built by Abner or Benjamin Chace, you know,
Some of the whaling men long ago.
Another one was Andrew Cory,
Who, in eighteen sixteen, began another story:
Selling to Seabury and wife Mary Gray,
(Daughter of Pardon), who had moved away.
But they came back and lived here some.
Until around eighteen twenty-one,
When they moved 'cross East Road next to The store he ran for cousin Soule.
That's some of the tales, but we've got more history.
Come visit on Sundays from 2 to 4:30.
We're open all summer: June up to September,
Selling Tiverton books and such so you can remember.
So finish your ice cream and walk through the gap
To see and hear history that put the Town on the map!
