1. Sheave Wheels Marker
Inscription. These sheave wheels from Tennessee Copper Company’s Calloway Mine sat at the top of the headframe and functioned as pulleys. The hoisting cables ran across the sheave wheels and then down into the mine via the shaft entrance. Both the sheave wheels and the cables are visible in the photograph, which probably dates from the 1970s.
