The Julius Joseph Fountain
Created by George Honig
| | Dedicated in 1923 / Restored in 2021 | |
"These things will appeal to the children of the community, stimulate their imagination and cause them to have better and bigger ideals for their future life. That is the real object and purpose of this scheme to be of benefit to the children." George Honig
Paying tribute to clothing store and furniture company owner Julius Joseph, the Joseph Fountain emphasizes the spirit of play associated with youth. The three children located at the top capture the interests of Mr. Joseph; the figure with the ball and bat symbolizes games, the child with the flowers represents outdoor life, and the Boy Scout holding the fish embodies hunting and fishing. The water running through the fountain is meant to "express the youth of life."
