1. Selkirk Union School Marker
Inscription. The three-classroom Union School opened in September of 1918. The land on which the building sits was originally granted to Lt. John Dochstader. The upstairs had three classrooms, a teacher's room, a library, two cloakrooms and a large hall. The basement had two playrooms, two lunchrooms and a large room at the front. In 1922 the Continuation School was established by turning the basement playrooms into classrooms and the front room into a science lab and domestic science room. The Continuation School had grades 1-12 and was used until 1949. In 1967, the school was turned into the Centennial Centre and used by residents for a library and community hall.

Erected by Haldimand Museums.
