Inscription.
Built in 1884 by the Guilford Enterprise Co., this factory replaced an 1850 foundry destroyed by fire. It employed up to 50 men and, during World War II, many women. Over the years, it produced ivory buttons, wagon wheels, timer fuses for anti-aircraft guns, ball bearings for military vehicles, sensitized drafting paper, alcohol prep pads, and lollipops with bendable sticks.
