1. Cylindrical Ore Bins Marker
Inscription. These foundations, built in 1917, supported the cylindrical ore bins that stored the ore from Burra Burra Mine. The ore bins themselves stood some 40 feet above the foundations; trains pulling empty ore cars moved through the space underneath the bins, and the ore was dumped from the bins into the train cars. An earlier frame structure serving the same purpose had previously stood on this site. After the closing of the mine in 1958, a portion of the area under the bins was blacked off, and a paint shop was constructed using the foundations as the walls.
