1. Walkway Tunnel Marker
Inscription. This walkway tunnel allowed workers to walk from the employee parking lot, which was beside the boiler house and hoist house, to the upper level of the mine site without having to cross the railroad tracks. It replaced a previous footpath that ran uphill and across the tracks, requiring the workers to walk between any rail cars that might be parked on the tracks. The original footpath can be seen near the center of the photograph.
