Dominikanernes klosteranlegg fra 1239 hadde fire fløyer med klosterhage i midten. Klosterkirken lå i sørfløyen, og er eldre enn selve klosteret. Østfløyens førsteetasje er intakt, med tre rom med teglhvelv. De tre rommene ble brukt som sakristi, bibliotek og kapittelsal. Oslo bispegård, bygget i 1883-1884 på Olavsklosterets østfløy, er fortsatt i bruk som kontorer for Oslos biskop.

The Dominican monastery monastery of St. Olaf, dating from 1239, was built in a square enclosing a garden. The monastery church, which occupied the south wing, was older than the monastery itself. The ground floor of the east wing is partly intact and consists of three brick-vaulted rooms. The three rooms were used as the sacristy, library and chapter hall. In 1884, Oslo Bispegård, the official residence of the Bishop of Oslo, was built on the site of the monastery's east wing. The building is now used as offices by the Bishop of Oslo.

St. Olav's Monastery from the 13th century is the best-preserved town monastery in the country. The old rooms inside are only accessible as part of a guided tour or in connection with events.

Next to the monastery are the ruins of the St. Hallvard's Cathedral, a grand church dedicated to Oslo's patron saint, built around the year 1070 AD.
