Excerpt:  The first county courthouse was built in 1870. On March 13, 1877, it burned, along with all the county records.
The second courthouse was completed in 1880.
The third courthouse for the county was constructed in 1909 in a late Victorian style and included a tower containing the county’s first public clock.
The fourth and current courthouse was dedicated on July 12, 1964, and is an example of Greek Revival architecture.
