Die Panzerhaubitze Wespe war eine selbstfahrende Feldhaubitze der deutschen Wehrmacht im Zweiten Weltkrieg, die auf dem Panzer II basierte. Das hier gezeigte Ausstellungsstück ist eine ungepanzerte Replika auf der Basis eines Hotchkiss Sp1-A Schützenpanzers, die für Filmaufnahmen angefertigt wurde.

The armored howitzer "Wespe" (Wasp) was a German self-propelled artillery vehicle developed and used during World War II. It was based on the Panzer II tank. The exhibit item shown here is an unarmored replica based on a Hotchkiss Sp1-A armored personnel carrier which was built for a film production.

2. Self-Propelled Howitzer "Wespe"
The marker is located at the left side of the Self-Propelled Howitzer out of the photo
as a main battle tank. Though mechanically sound, it was both under-gunned and under-armoured. The chassis, however, proved serviceable for providing mobility to the 10.5 cm field howitzer. Existing chassis were converted to self-propelled artillery vehicles, such as the Marder II conversion providing mobility to the PaK 40/7.5 cm anti-tank gun.
