Regarding Wright-Meares House. From Mosaic NC (North Carolina Office of Archives and History):
Meares, Walker – Walker Meares was born in Wilmington, New Hanover County on July 1, 1832. He attended the University of North Carolina, graduating in 1853 before becoming a druggist, and he was involved in Eliza Margaret Cotten's social circle. In 1856 he married Ann Claypole Wright and the couple had at least nine known children. He died in Wilmington on April 8, 1919.

Meares, Ann Claypole (nιe Wright) – Ann Claypole Wright, often known as "Claypole" to her friends, was born in Wilmington, New Hanover County on September 8, 1836. During her teen years, she attended St. Mary's School in Raleigh. She was friends with Margaret Eliza Cotten and they frequently social gatherings together. In 1856, she married Walker Meares. She died in Wilmington on November 27, 1887.
