Inscription. The Columbia Military Academy Water Fountain was manufactured by the Murdock Company, an early manufacturer and installer of water delivery systems throughout the country. While there is no way to know, when this Water Fountain was installed on the CMA Campus, the Bubble Font casting and foot pedal on the Water Fountain date it to the mid 1910s to late 1920s time frame and it was most likely installed on the campus when it was manufactured. The Water Fountain was installed between the Quadrangle and Main Building and, no doubt, provided a refreshing drink to thousands of CMA Cadets through the years. The Water Fountain remained in its location adjacent to the Quadrangle for the duration of CMA's existence. Columbia Academy removed the Water Fountain during a project involving the entire Quadrangle area shortly after CMA transitioned to Columbia Academy in 1979 and stored the Water Fountain in the basement of Johnson Hall for thirty years. In recognition of the Water Fountain's relevance to the history of the school grounds, Columbia Academy transferred it to the Columbia Military Academy Alumni Association in 2012. The CMA Alumni Association sponsored an aesthetic restoration of the Water Fountain so it could be displayed at the CMA Museum. While the Water Fountain is no longer operational, it remains a CMA artifact that all CMA Alumni
